    Texas Eagle discussion

Is this a 4 or 5 day a week bus sub? Otherwise how will the isolated train set SAS <> FTW get servicing. Know SAS does have maintenance but is it capable to do everything needed for 4 or 5 days?

Tracking FY 2024 Ridership and Finances

You probably do not know but for each of these figures what was the train capacity or in the case of multiple trains on a route the total seat capacity? I do believe the Meteor had more capacity in 2019??

In the second photo it appears that the ties gradually getting longer toward the camera was at a CP maybe that was removed? The isolation joint bars may have been part of a CP?

    More trouble for Boeing

These problems that occur on Boeing planes are being much overblown. Metal fatigue happens often unexpectedly and business. Wheel bearings have failed just like NS at Palestine causing tire to fail or fall off. Even door have come off although the 2 DC-10s were cargo doors. Wing Slides have...

    WiFi on longer routes

JIS: A big problem around here is the tree cover. With the elimination of pole line signaling and communication lines the RRs have left trees next to tracks or even overhanging the track. CSX has spent a lot of time of removing trees around their PTC satellite dishes. That said even internet...

"IF" welded rail, no anchors, older ties, not ballasted for welded rail, and add in higher temps . That is definitely a receipt for track problems! Not even all of those need be present.

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

A while back Amtrak did advertise for some "coach cleaners" in WAS. Now were they ever filled or still waiting for positions to be filled have no idea.

Replacement for B&P tunnel in Baltimore

Do not remember but is it only about 50+ parcels or small portions are needed? How many structures are subpar? Wanna bet these people suing are trying to get some buildings built back??

Is the route on CN al stick Rasil? "IF" so, ;it would appear that CN or even CP could provide replaced rail that was replaced on high traffic areas. I would suggest that the rail, tie plates, & spikes if replaced on main line could be used on the CN portion. Even cross ties that still have...

    Atlantic Coast (Silver/Palmetto/Carolinian) Service discussion Q4 2023 - 2024

"IF" the star's equipment runs thru on the Capitol then it will only take one more train set of single level equipment. That would release the 3 tiny Capitol's equipment of Super Liners. A thought> If the star and Meteor swapped departure times at MIA then that would give plenty of time for...

My experience with a B&O dome was that it was not as tall as the western train's domes.

Baltimore-Washington Maglev closer to biting the dust

It is ~41+miles between Washington Union station and Baltimore Union station. It would be better that the route would be upgraded for speeds in excess of 160 MPH. No permanent slow sections except at Washington Union Station and Fredrick Douglass tunnel bores. That would include 4 main tracks...
